Swollen Lymph Node & Pain

Swollen Lymph Node & Pain

Hey everyone,

About two weeks ago, I was working outdoors doing some landscaping, and put a bit too much pressure on my lower back. The only place where the pain did not subside was in my left hip.

Whenever I sit down for a bit and stand back up, I get a large amount of pain in that area, which after standings and moving for a while, subsides. When I stretch (leaning over to touch my toes) I can feel the pain even greater, but can stretch to relieve most of it. Even after stretching for thirty minuets, and sitting down again, the pain returns when I stand back up giving me a temporarily painful, limp like gait, that subsides after walking for a few minutes.

If I sit in the office at my desk for too long, the pain will creep up on me until I have to stretch again. At the moment, I take about four Advil's a day, and it seems to do a very good job of keeping the pain away. What concerns me now, is that I have a swollen Lymph node in my left groin, the same side where I get the hip pain. The lymph node itself, when touched, does not feel painful, and is about as large as a quarter. As a child, I had osteomyelitis in my right hip, which thankfully was diagnosed and treated before anything serious became of it, but it scares me to think it could have come back on the left side. There is no redness, or swelling, other than the lymph node (swollen), and the pain in my left hip (if attributed to the lymph node) shows no external signs.

I have to go see a doctor, regardless, but was hoping to gain some peace of mind, or a pre-diagnosis of what this could possibly be, as with anyone, something wrong with my body, scares me.

Hi, sorry you are having pain. I hope that it is just an injury you got from something did outside. The lymph node worries me though because of its size. Hard to know if it is related to your childhood osteomyelitis. Lymph nodes do swell, but usually in relation to infection, and other  things. But since it is in the area of the hip pain like you said you need to get it checked . I know it is hard not to worry but try not to be too fearful if you can. I'll think positive good thoughts for you!
