Terrible back pain in the middle of the night

My back seems to hurt the worse in the middle of the night after I've been sleeping for a few hours.  It is in my lower back to the top of my butt but does not go down my legs.  It wakes me up and I have to take ibuprofen and wait for it to work before I can lay back down and go back to sleep.  It is impossible for me to lay down in any position while I'm in pain... it feels like the pain is sucking the breath out of me (if that makes sense to anyone).  I'm fine most of the day, it hurts a bit just when I stand up from sitting or turn just right.  This has been going on for about a week now...

I should mention that I have some sort of lump in my lower back on the right side of my spine that I've asked my doctor about before and she said it was nothing.  It has been there a long time without moving or changing in size.  It does seem to be a bit tender to the touch as I feel it right now.  I appreciate you all listening!!!
