The back of my neck hurts realy bad.

The back of my neck has been hurting really bad. More to the left side. Every time i move it hurts so bad I can't explain the pain. I have not fell or hurt it in any way. If I don't move my neck for a while it gets stiff and it hurts even worse. when I wake up, look down, look up or  just turn my head it hurts. This has been going on for a while now. My g/f rubs ice-hot on me but that’s does not work. I am 21. What is wrong with me and watch should I do?

You should take some pain relievers and massage where it hurts. Also when you sleep, try to find a good position that is comfortable for you and doesn't hurt your neck. Some say it can last up to 7 days, but for yours, you need to just keep massaging it and keep turning your head no matter if it hurts. That's the only way it will take all that tension away.

Hot: The hot water bottle, electric Shou Lu, hot towels and infrared light bulbs can play a role in pain. Care must be taken to prevent burns
Selection is safflower oil, sweet oil Murayama rheumatism, cloud flavor, etc., sore rub rub, 2 or 3 times a day, have a certain effect.

hi i also have neck pain.
week ago got up during night and while putting head back on my pillow felt snapping in my neck on the left, upper side.
couldn't move my head for three whole days.
now week later i'm slowly improving but got scared a bit.

i still try to guess what happened. because the muscle along the left side of my neck gets painful (that burning pain sensation).

i suspect that i put my head somewhat wrong and tendon rubbed against vertebra causing some strain.
but it's just a guessing.

too chicken to actually say anyone about it, my mom's too overprotective and friends don't care that much.

haven't taken any meds nor got massage.

i'd massage myself it there wouldn't that tiny crackling bump and sensitiveness over the vertebra.

now my all neck gets stiff and my spine too.

Hi! I also have a really bad neck, and I get massages very often because of it. I always go to Chinese massagers, and they always tell me the same thing, that I look down too much. ( for example while reading, or playing on my laptop or phone, sitting at the desk, etc) they also tell me that the number of people with neck problems is rising because everyone sits in front of their computer for too long. Remember to do neck exercises when on the computer, and looking up to the sky helps neck problems too. Doing outside activities like flying a kite is really good for your neck. Also massage!

I already have one top wisdom tooth in and I am currently hatching the other one... Before I realized it was coming in I started having some strange problems... SEVERE nosebleeds out of nowhere for the past 4 months.. bad pain the the back of my neck and headaches caused by the light in my living room. My beck hurts between the upper vertebrae...of the vertebrae pushed in, sore to touch and feels like cartilage crackling when I push around it to massage it.  Now this week my new wisdom tooth feels like it's coming. Anyone have any idea what this might be? I figured the tooth may be bothering my nasal cavity causing the nosebleeds but .. I don't know. Hurts to move my head!!! Pls help.

I can not recommend quick enough that you need to see a neurologist.  This exact thing happened to me and I had to have an MRI of my neck and spine.  Come to find out I have degenerative changes in my neck with foraminal stenosis, diffuse disc bulge and endplate spurring as well as central canal compromise which is causing me to have the burning sensation at the bottom of my neck as well as pain and tingling down my left arm.  My neurologist had me do a few sessions of physical therapy and well as home traction which helped relieve some of the pressure but not to a complete healing point.  I now go to the chiropractor for adjustments, heat and and electrical stimulation which helps wonders.  I still have some days where it is a little bit more irritating than others but feeling much better than I did 6 months ago

3 wks ago I awoke in the middle of the night with severe neck pain, it was awful!  I could hardly hold my head up.  I went to get out of bed to visit the washroom and the sharpest pain  I have ever felt shot through the back of my neck into my head.  It has been hurting ever since, for 3 wks now.  I am not one to rush to the Doctor for every little thing, I realize that muscle spasms occur and they take along time to go away sometimes.  I have never had neck pain before and it is so bad that I have been taking Xstrenght Ibuprofin for 3 wks now, every 4 hrs.  My husband is just now being able to massage it with pain releving ointments but my skin is also very sensitve and I can hardly stand my clothes touching the back of my neck. It is really effecting my work, its all I cna think about.  I must admit to being a little dizzy from time to time and I have lost my balance a couple of times. I think I will call my Doctor next week.  I sympathize greatly with your pain.  Why out of the blue would pain just occur?

Go to the doctor and have x-rays. If it looks OK then the doctor should send you to Physical Therapy. Ask for a therapist with a cold laser machine it can relax the muscles and help soft tissue. At the therapist they can use spinal decompression that can help also. If not you can go to a Chiropractor after x-rays from the doctor show no problems, they have a spinal decompression machine also and some even have the cold laser machine. Do not just put this off, neck problems can become a serious problem. You are probably have a muscle spasm in your neck on the left side. Please go have this check out. If you don't have insurance maybe the chiro might be cheaper for you, they also will take x-rays and if something is not right they will send you to a medical doctor. Also have a good massage and see if that helps.

Hope I Help
