UPPER BACK PAIN, RIGHT SIDE
For one week today, I have had sharp, stabbing pains in my upper right back, beside my shoulder
blade.  It was not preceded by any abdominal pain that might suggest gallstones.  It hit as if I had been stabbed.  It only subsides with Darvocet - I feel I am just masking a problem.  If anyone has had this and can shed some light on it, please do.

Sometimes there is no pain in the abdomen with either gallbladder pain or pancreatic pain.  Pancreas and gallbladder can both have referred pain right between the shoulderblades.  Have your doctor check pancreas and gallbladder (maybe even liver) function.
