Unable to diagnose

Unable to diagnose

Hi all. Last year I started having pain if I tried to extend my arm or turn it a certain way. My doctor thought it was probably tendinitis and so I tried physiotherapy for it. I was unable to do the exercises which they suggested without extreme pain. About 5 months ago, it got to the point where I couldn't raise my arm past shoulder length. My doctor had already tried me on anti-inflammatory pills which didn't work, so he sent me for an x-ray on my shoulder and an MRI on my shoulder. The x-ray showed a small bone spur pointing towards my elbow, but it only hurt if pressed upon. The MRI showed nothing...no rotor cuff tear..no tendinitis...nothing. I have been on oxycodone for the pain which doesn't seem to be doing the job. I have also noticed that area where the muscle in my arm is seems to be swollen and burning at times and sometimes it feels like I have a needle in it. I also get painful spasms on the underside of my upper arm. My pinkie finger and the one next to it are also numb and tingling at times. I have degenerative disease in my neck, so we are now investigating that. I had a chest x-ray (my doctor says that sometimes problems with the neck will show up in them) and I have had an MRI on my neck. I am now awaiting the results of them.  I was wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and what was the diagnosis and treatment..Hoping someone will have some answers.

It good ur getting the MRI of your neck, perhaps you have a herniated disc which could be impinging on a nerve that might cause the numbness and tingling in ur pinkie depending on the disk.  But you never mentioned pain in ur neck right, or pain going down ur arm?

Degenerative disc disease in your cervical spine can produce the symptoms you have described.  Treatment would be based on the nature and extent of any spinal abnormalities and nerve compression.
If you have the findings of your MRI available at a later date, post them on the board and we will try and assist you further.
Best wishes ----
