Upper Back Pain

I recently pulled something in my upper back area (directly behind the diaphram area). It has been about a month. In the begining it caused a short sharp pain everytime in would make a quick movement in any direction, ie getting up from a chair, or making a quick turn. It always goes away immediately; lately I have been getting the same pain when I try to get up after laying on the floor or the bed. The pain is not chronic, only shootin pain.

It sounds very much like a misaligned rib and/or strain of the intercostal muscles that are between the ribs.  The sharp pains seem associated with motion of your trunk if I read your description correctly.  See a chiropractor for rib alignment and get associated treatment for muscle spasm from that chiropractor using electrical muscle stimulation, hot packs, and gentle stretches.  Ribs which slightly "pop" away from their connection to vertebrae in the back and/or the front where they attach to the sternum can cause very sharp pain, especially with trunk movement or deep breaths.  It may take a few treatments but that should clear it up.
