Upper and lower back pain

Hello everyone,
I am 51 years old, in December last year before Christmas, I was rearended by two cars.
I have had x-rays, ct scan, bone scan, and mri, blood work.
I've been diagnosed with degenerative bone disease.

Since that time I have been getting worse, instead of better.
Now I can't drive, I have to be driven everywhere. I can barely walk and it's not far.
I now have to have a cane and back brace. also,  short memory lose, my legs don't work good anymore either.
My words sometimes won't come to me anymore. I get very frustrated at myself now days.
I know the wreck did something to my brain I don;t know what.
I can't drive because I stay dizzy and numbness of the fight sideof my face and hand now and blackouts. My pain is outrageous.

What can I do to get my pain at a tollerable level?
Will I ever walk normal again?
Is there something I could do to keep walking?
I know there is more questions I have but I can't remember themnow.

Thank you Pap

Good Morning Backandchest,

I haven't really tried too much frankly because of the pain and not being able to walk well.

As for the psychiatrist, she said that being in a tramatic event will or can trigger memory loss, that sounded logical to me, she also said most of the time it clears up in time, if it don't may be it is too tramatic to remember.
I have been having a sort of why me pitty party, so I'm on effexer xr 150mg a day.

As for the blackouts, she said it sounded more biological to her.
And as for scanning my brain, not long ago I had a full body ct, full body bone etc...
I just want so much to be pain free as much as possible and walk. I don't know if that will be in my future or not.

Sorry.... Thank you for replying to my post. This is my first time doing it and I'm unsure about it.
I do know that setting in a hot tub don't do it, the pain is unbareable then. I've been on ice so much until I feel like a mackeral, but it helps.

Again... Thank you. Pap

I'm trying a neurostimulator for the pain, they claim it's going to help.  I'll let you know on Wednesday/Thursday if it works.  I have had a severe injury as well as degenerative disk disease with my spine.  Water therapy help me, not physical therapy though, that was too much.
Have you seen a psychiatrist in reference to the memory loss, blackouts and such.  I've been on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication and it has helped me.  They say chronic pain is associated with depression; it causes a physiological effect.  In plain man terms, there a cycle of depression and pain.  The longer the pain and cycle last, the worst it gets.  The depression can actually make the pain worse and vice versa. What's the worst that can happen?  They'll probably send you for a scan of you brain and perform an EEG (?) on your brain.
