If the space between discs has narrowed it is often called degenerative disc disease (DDD) but it is NOT a disease and is not likely to degenerate enough to cause any problems. It is simply that the disc is less plump between the vertabrae because it holds less water. It's can happen from late teens/early twenties and as squirtatious says, is a bit like hair going grey, it will happen at some stage to all of us.
You are a little young to have degeneration in the neck. Ask your Doctor send you to Physical Therapy for a few weeks, they can get you going on some stretches that will probably help. Good Luck
I took an x-ray of my neck months ago, because i was feeling some pain and numbness in my neck. The doctor that examined my x-ray said that the distance between C2 and C3 has become very narrow and this may be causing the problem. I still have that numb sensation near C2 and C3 and some headaches.
I'm only 18 and i remember i had a bad neck posture before these symtomps appeared.
Thanks.
Sounds like you have a deteriating disc. As we age, most, if not all, will aquire to some degree, deteriating discs, its inevitable. Take care:)
Are you talking about disc space narrowing? Depending on the severity, yes it can degenerate further.
