anybody know of any good spine surgeons for disc problems in the south east

my husband is having severe back pain and going in to get a steroid shot today.  I think he has a ruptured disc in his lumbar region.  We are in the North Carolina area.  does anybody know of a good spine surgeon he could consult with in case this does not work out?

Go to the website of Dr. Jerome Groopman. He has a series of articles there including one titled "A knife in the back", in which he discusses the pros and cons of a laminectomy or any sort of spinal surgery to reliece pain. This is a "must read" if you are thinking of surgical intervention.
