I have had three back surgeries, 1 laminctomy 2 lumbar fusions I have plates and screws in L2 L3 L4. I still have pain in my lower back. I have pain in my legs? nite and day. When you cut the back does it affect the nerves to legs
Well, back issues could affect the nerves that supply the other parts of the body such as legs; while the symptoms could result from inflammation, residual nerve compression, further degeneration etc. In inoperable/ incurable cases, pain management would be a suitable option. I would suggest considering a review with your treating doctor and possibly considering an evaluation by a pain management specialist for suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.
