I know from personal experience that trauma can cause herniated discs. I slipped and fell in 2004, never having had a back problem before the fall. I didn't fall far, just hard. It took three years for the disc to finally completely herniate, but man oh, man, when it did! During the time it took for it to finally completely rupture, I was in increasing pain and going to numerous Drs and Pain clinics to get answers. I think back injuries are subjective to the person having the pain, not what actually happened to get the pain. I've heard of folks just getting out of bed and herniating a disc by twisting funny. You might want to get another opinion before you settle anything.
I thought I heard from my lawyer that car damage should have no effect on how bad your injuries are. People can be hit from like 20 mph from behind and still have serious injuries to the neck/back.(I'm in the USA, NY state) My car was a total loss and the person who caused my accident crossed right in front in me and I was going 40-45mph. Car damage was sides and front. It is just terrible that nobody understands. I have disc bulges/herniations/pinched nerves as well as severe whiplash and my lawyer says everything is really dependent on the combined Doctors notes. My doctors say that my herniations in my neck are prob from the whiplash. No Dr. will give me a straight answer, even though I was in great health and very active before the accident. What is intercrainial hypertension? Does your blood pressure have to be high to determine if that you have that? Just wondering, I have reg bp, but the headaches and pressure on my skull is terrible. Are your herniations all cervical? Wish there was an answer to your question, I'm curious myself.
This may sound silly but you don't mention anything about what actual doctor's say are the cause of yoru injury. I wish I had the info you are looking for. I am pretty sure that herniations can be caused by trauma as well as from long term wear and tear. For what it is worth there are other treatments for herniated discs that don't involve surgery. I have had herniated discs in my low back on different occasions that have been fixed with IDD therapy and regular core exercise. The therapy can be expensive and insurance may not cover it. It is worth looking in to. Good luck!!
