bike accident

a couple days ago I rode my bike down a hill to get somewhere. where i was going doesn't matter. what happened is. there is a strange divider on a four way. and in order not to hit a caroI had to swerve off into one. I flipped over my bike when it hit the curb right onto my neck. nothing is broken thank god, but now a couple days after the accident, I tried doing physical excercising gain only to find that the thoracic vertebrae between my scapulae had a pulsing pain that came with the my breathing and my pulse. So I was wondering whether or not my spine is commpressing my aorta in some way, causing the pain?Or is it just a regular 4-week soreness?
Thanks in advance!

Did you go see a doctor after your crash? If you didn't, I would. Even if bones are not broken, soft tissue damage can occur and get scar tissue. Massage and Active Release Treatment (ART) can help with this. Soft tissues can be damaged, and muscles can be bruised. Each rib has muscles in between that expand with each breath. When pain occurs, your heartrate, breathing and bloodpressure go up, as well as with exercise. When something is swollen or injured, blood engorges the site to help it heal, and sometimes can have a throbbing feeling.

Your aorta is detected more on the front of your body (when you lie down you can see your belly move up and down if you're fairly normal body size)

I would a) go see a doctor if you haven't
b) go back to see one if you have already and tell them new symptoms
c) you can enroll yourself in physio therapy
d) use ice packs on the area to decrease swelling
e) use massage therapy after you rest the area for a week or so, and if there is swelling or any bruising has gone down
f) stretch daily, especially twisting in the torso and bending to make sure you don't get stiff
g) try seeing a chiropractor to assess your spine-- they are super knowledgeable about muscles and spines-- more so than an MD (my opinion :P)

I'd lay off any exercise that aggrivates it and causes you pain. Do lighter exercises like walking/swimming until its healed and breathing heavy doesn't cause you pain. Really make sure you stretch though to not have stiffness in the area!! You can use an antiinflammatory as directed on the bottle to help decrease swelling in the area (with any injury there is an inflammatory response).

Good luck! Take care of yourself!
