I had surgery on my neck September 27th. On c-4 and c-5 they put the Prestige Cervical Disk and c-6 and c-7 fusion. We didn't know it was a 2 procedure that they had not done before. Things were o.k. but, lots of pain at first. By my first check up October 2nd the x-ray looked fine. The November 12th appointment the x-ray shows the new joint(Prestige cervical disk) is on top of the fusion and the fusion has shifted forward.
The doctor says the fusion has to come out. I go back December 19th.
He didn't say much except it was nothing I did and nothing he did. I don't know why he didn't just fuse the whole thing like we first talked about. He was in such a hurry to leave I got no answers. One question is what will happen if they take the fusion out? Should I see a different nuerosurgeon? I am 39 and I have degenerative bone disease. I have a fused right wrist and now my neck and in the future my back. I am still shocked that this failed and I'm facing surgery again.

Very sorry to hear.  I would see someone else for a 2nd opinion and ask about taking bone graft from your hip and fusion process.  Its the most successful type fusion for most people.

I wish you the best and hope you are pain free in time.

Thank you.
I had donor bone with my fusion. This morning I set up an appointment with another doctor.
Thanks for your response.
