cervical disc herniation and double vision??

I was diagnosed 5 yrs ago with disc herniation at C-4,5, C5,6 and C6,7.  My symptoms included numbness in my hands and fingers, involuntary muscle twitching in my left arm, severe pain.  I have been treated by physiotherapy and neck exercises. These have been ongoing for 5 yrs.  I have met with a neurosurgeon who advised that if he were to begin fusions, the fusions would put more pressure on the underlying discs and more fusions would be necessary.  I also have DDD with narrowing.  I am no longer able to do many activities I used to do and this condition has effectively altered my life terribly.

Over the past 2 yrs I have had perioditc episodes of double vision and dizziness.  While my eyes physically do not cross, I see double of everything. Not side by side, but over top of each other.  MS has been ruled out.  I have had a cat scan of my brain with normal results.  I have not had a contrast MRI of my brain.  I have brought this up with my neurologist and my family doctor and they dont' know what is causing it.

I have had doplar's done of both carotid arteries with normal results.  

I am at a loss as what to do next or who to see next.  The double vision and dizziness terrifies me.  It happened once while I was driving and by covering up one eye, I was able to pull over safely.

Can anybody give me any suggestions on what to do next.

A friend had the same symptoms and had two discs replaced in her neck by Ian Shackleford in Stretton, Cheshire UK.  The discs will last another 50 yrs he says.  

All her symptoms have gone.
