cervical discogram

I am scheduled to have a discogram this Tuesday, April 14th and I am getting so nervous about it I can't sleep. Who has had it, I mean the nurse called me and said I need to wear sturdy shoes because I have to brace myself for the pain. Yikes! Just what I need is more pain with a herniated C5/6 and bulging 6/7 and might be having a disc replacement on C5/6. So what I want to know is will I be in a lot of pain afterwards for days as well as during the prodedure. Can't sleep Victoria.....

Hi,  I have had a discogram 3 times on four discs in my lumbar.  I remember being so scared I couldn't sleep but please don't be.  To me it was a pressure type of pain so it was different.  But the fact they are doing it means you already deal with a lot of pain so my guess it will be similar in that you already are in a lot of pain but there is a pressure feeling to it.  I know it's hard but try not to be afraid.  Plan on taking it easy I think they say like 24 to 48 hours I can't remember but I was sore for a few days and we just got to where we planned for two or three days of just taking it easy.  We rented movies, I didn't do anything but rest unless I felt like walking around a little.  It's more of an achy pain afterwards.  Does that make sense?
