chest pain

I have thoracic back degenerative disk disease.  At times I have pain that shots around my lower ribs on right side. This has been going on for years.  Now I am experiencing right side upper chest pain, under arm pain and under shoulder blade pain that does not go away even with pain medication. This is a burning pain that comes and goes every few seconds. It has been going on for over 2 weeks and is progressively getting worse. I also have reflux problems and have changed my medicine for that but that did not make any difference in the pain.  Could this type of pain becomming from my back?

Hi, I also have Thoracic Disc Disease and have the chest pain constantly.  Oddly enough, I also have reflux.  Anyway, from what I've been told, since the ribs connect to the thoracic vertebrae, any instability will cause pain that radiates to both sides of chest.  Sometimes it feels like I'm having a heart attack and other times it feels like I have an elephant kicking me in the chest.  So far, traMADOL has been helping to take the edge off the pain, but it doesn't take it away completely.  But, you should also probably see a GI about the reflux, since that can also cause chest pain.  I've gotten pretty good at sorting out my esophagus pain and the pain from my back.  Good Luck.
