dealing w/chronic neck pain

My husband has the 4, 5, and 6 discs in his neck fused.  The original fusion was done to try to fix the numbness and pain in his arm.  The arm never got better so he has a 5lb. limit in that arm.  He has constant pain in his neck and if he trys to do anything (driving, raking, computer work, etc.) he ends up throwin so much pain that he is throwing up.  He has been to a pain management program and they said he would just have to deal with it. 4 years ago his kidneys started to fail from the prolonged use of pain meds.  He is only 55, but he has basicly given up on life.  We have tried many different natural remedies, but nothing seems to help.  Does anyone have any advice that might help?

I'm so sorry your husband is having so much pain, but I can totally relate to what he's going thru. I had a my fusion (C5-C7) three years ago. I am now on disability due to the pain and restrictions that I have to live with now. I'm 47 and never dreamed I would end up like this. I'm also in pain management, I'm on Fentynel patches 100mcg and oxycodone. It only gives minimal relief. I've had Botox injections in my neck three times but has not helped. The disk above and below the fusion and now herniated and will eventually require more surgery.I also suffer with severe depression caused by the constant pain. Has your husband tried the patches?  I also had trouble tolorating alot of the meds that's why they put me on the patches and it is much better and it is also more consistant relief. Bless you for being such a supportive wife, most people don't understand how debilitating chronic pain is.
