disc prolapse at c3-4 / moderate scoliosis / cervical stenosis

Hello all,

I just wondered of someone could give me some advice, i have been diagnosed with the above [ plus mild chiari malformation which is not currently symptomatic ] I have just got back from my first physio session, and to my surprise ive been told that i will always have all this, the scolisis i can accept, but is it true that apart from daily excerses to strengthen my muscles the disc prolapse is some thing i have to accept and live with, ive been advised of things not to do, and to balance my activity / rest cycle out, ie; no gym / no neck straining activities .... i work with adults with learning disabilities who can present with unpredictable challenging behaviour, i am so worried that im going to have to look for another job .............  I simply can't accept that for the rest of my life i have to live with the fact that any jault to the neck could potentially damage my beyond repair ...........

Please any advice, experience would be so greatly appreciated right now.

Hi...a word of caution...u have chiari...chiro's r usually not the best to see as they tend to manipulate the neck area which can trigger ur chiari symptoms and herniation to increase.

Do a lot of research first!!

I'll consider anything at this point to be honest .....  What does that type of therapy involve?

Have u thought about a holistic approach to your situation and checked out chiropratic care? I know there are those out there who mistrust that form of therapy, I found it to work well with me. I was involved in The Pettibon System which is a full spine reguvenation program. I will only go to chiropractors who practice this system. I'm leery of any other chiropractor who DOESN'T practice this, just wanted to throw out another option for u to consider. I hope u get feeling better, take care:-)
