fell down stairs two years ago...

2 years ago, I fell down a half flight of stairs, I went to the ER a couple days later because of the horrible pain I felt whenever I got up from a sitting position.  I was sure my tailbone was BROKEN.  They took xrays and said nothing was broken.  The pain eventually went away. (I think about 3-4 months of that AWFUL pain)  Last year, I again started to suffer from a similar pain, but this time it extended down my leg and into my ankle.  I found out I was pregnant (complete SHOCK!!!) shortly after this back pain started.  My doctor insisted that it was pregnancy related.  Well, now my baby is 4 months old and I still have pain.  I went for a MRI last week and am waiting for results.  What happens if they tell me NOTHING is wrong.   I truly don't think this is all in my head.  It has been a HORRIBLE year.  I don't think I can go through much more.    :(  Any ideas? or thoughts on what is wrong with me?

I fractured my coccyx 2 years ago and was in great pain for months after, especially when standing from a sittin position. I then found that at certain times of the month the pain was startin to come back again. I went to see a physiotherapist and she suggested that i do pelvic floor excersises to strengthen the muscles.  Since doing this i rarely get the pain. she recommended that i do 5-10 an hour.

I am seeing a spine surgeon now and unfortunatley, I am workers comp so it isn't so easy to switch nor do I know if I could. I barely have the strength to do what i am doing now. I try, I DO try but nothing is working. If anything I am worse than I was...

I am in the same boat but my daughter is 11 months old and about 21 lbs. I had an MRI and was told I had some bullges and a tear but my nerves were not involved. I am left with no explanation other than I need pain management. I guess that what I feel doesn't matter because he surely doesn't ask. I call to tell him of things that are wrong, he doesn't care. My PT told me that back was so twisted up and my pain level was so high, he was scared to touch me. He won't call to tell my doctor though, because he called him on my first visit and told him how he was going to use some things to relieve the pain and then have me exercise. He got a fax back telling him to do NO pain relieving techniques and just make me exercise the full hour. He has no heart. What is wrong with these docs? I can barely walk and when I do, my back is swayed to the side my left hip is higher than my right and I have a huge knot where my spine is supposed to be. My PT drew a line as to where my spine should be and then where it was. Half of it is 2-3 inches off. I called my doc to tell him and beg him to let me have some Prednisone, he doesn't believe in it and just called me in more pain killers. I have taken 10 this morning just to walk, now what? That is not helping my problem. I have cried so much over this... Somebody please have mercy on me and my little family...

your story has touched my heart...because it sounds familiar...except...i have a very caring dr.  while i was pregnant i went to an accupunture lady with a heart of gold...she was able to provide minimal relief, but b/c i was pregnant she could only use 4 pressure points out of fear of harming the baby.  once i get my mri results back, i intend on trying accupuncture again.  i also heard yoga works great.  i hope you get some relief soon...i would seriously consider looking 4 another dr if i were you.  demand to be sent to a specialist!!!

Is it possible to have a herniated disc on the left and have the pain radiate on the right side. I have multiple disc bulges and a few tears.
Thanks so much,
M

thank you for your reply...the waiting for results is like an eternity.   I am carting around my baby girl, and she keeps getting heavier...I am exhausted, and in constant pain, it really sucks!

I doubt if they tell you anything is wrong. I am no doc, but it sounds like a herniated disc to me.I have a  herniated L5,and so far have had to have 2 surgerys. You are having the very same pains that I did . Except my pain was radiating down my left leg, and leaving my foot burning, with sometimes the pain radiating into the right foot.Good luck. I hope you do well in the future
