ive been on fenidal patch for 2 weeks and i have break through pain , bad . i was taking perks with it but way to many i go back in 3 days to talk to my pain clinic about it cause i dont want to take any pills at all thats why i switch to the patch cuz peracets were not helping anyone can help me ?

i've been on fentanyl patches 50mcg b4 and let me tell you they are some powerful sh*t. i got prescibed 10 patches and 120 percs every month. i still had breakthru pain even when i took like 6 percs with the patch. your body will get immune to the pills, patches everything which will make your body want more. 3 months ago i got switched from the patches and now onto oxycontin. i kno wat you mean about not wanting to take pills thats also y i asked my doc if he could give me something besides the pills. i would stick with the pills personally cuz with the patch you cant do certain things like taking a hot shower, or going into a hot tub, sh*t like that screws up the patch. i'm only 20yrs old and i've been taking pills for 5 yrs now cuz of my back. i have 24/7 pain. after 5 yrs im right at the begining starting over with a new doc. hardest thing is not being able to get the meds cuz your so poor. oh yea i dont have insurance and those patches cost $400 and the percs cost me $150. i would stick with the pills unless you find more relief with the patches. its all up to you and wat you feel. good luck and i hope things get better for the both of us. take care

Hi misrylee.  What's your dosage?  My husband was on 25mcg and that wasn't high enough.  Once they increased the dose, he felt more relief.  Could your dose not be high enough?

now im on 50 mg and switch my break through meds i havent had pain in three days

I just started the Fentanyl patch yesterday. FIrst, you have to realize that the reason your Dr. put you on the patch is because your body is tolerant to a opiates. But the perks you take ( 6 a day or more?  that is abuse )

I know you dont want to takr them and you say it is for break through pain, but if you already know one or two or three of the perks do not work,
then why are you taking them still?

He should give you a higher Microgram of Fenrtanyl patches but if he does not, please try to rest more and take it easy. Today , about the 30 hour mark after I put the patch on, I had 3 hours straight of no pain and I was walking around. I have not had that ( no pain for 3 hours straight) since I was a sophmore in high school. I am still in awe and I have my life back.   GOD BLESS
