foot drop - question

In addition to numerous other back symptoms and problems, I have recently noticed that I am tripping a lot. I wear sandals in the summer since I cannot wear anything with heals and don't like to wear sneakers everyday. They are not too big and they are snug (they are slides but have velcro and I can tighten them around my foot).... but I find myself tripping (right foot only - I never trip with my left foot) and catching the top of the sandal on the ground numerous times a day. I have a feeling that I would be doing the same thing even if I wore my sneakers...

If anyone here has foot drop, how did you begin to notice the problem?

Did you just begin to notice that you were not lifting your foot off the ground as much as the other?

I have already been diagnosed as a CP patient regarding my back and neck - I have already had 2 surgeries at L5-S1 and although I could go in for fusion, the doctors think that it may make other problems worse..

Anyway, Would like to hear from anyone who suffers from foot drop, how they noticed the problem, and what has happened since...

Thanks.

I didnt have any lower back problems unitl after  an acdf  at c4,5, & 6. Before I was released I had started dragging my feet. Not too long after this the Sciatica started and has never ceased. I have gained many a bruise from trying to climb stairs myself.

Hey, thanks for responding..

Did your PT notice you were walking differently or did you notice the symptoms first? I know I have a difficult time raising my big toe - but I can move my ankle fine.

I hate tripping all the time -
