help please

i am having L4 L5 S1 fusion done in oct 5 i am scared to death i have had previous spinal surgeries and am on so much pain meds my head is spinning i dont bother to get out of bed because it is horrible pain even with the meds anyone share experiences good or bad cause im having second thoughts about even doin this

I don't know you're circumstances, so I'll just tell my experience.  I had a lumbar disectomy in this same area last yr.  I live 70 miles north of New Orleans, and have an excellent neurosurgeon in Mandeville, LA.  He absolutely refuses to do fusions!  He told me he has patients who come to him everyday who have had these done who wish they never had.  Since i don't know about your previous surgeries, it's kind of hard to give more info. or advice, but I definitely think you should do your research and think about this for awhile before making any final decisions.  Hope some of this helps.
