I don't know about the exact reason for the issues that most of you have been suffering but I would say that you should visit a physiotherapy center, they would help you relieve the problem and also the pain and spasm.

I was just reading all of these interesting neck posts.  I'm with you.  I have had cracking and popping in my neck for a while now.  I believe it is a combination of the wrong pillow and too much computer work.  I have found a way to massage and relax the neck muscles and it seems to work well and give me a few hours relief.  I will be buying a new pillow tonight to see if it helps.  No neurological issues or diseases, just muscle strain.  People get to worried about these thing, which I'm sure, leads to more stress and neck cracks.

I have a pain in my neck that feels like it is a bubble popping i compare the pain to a feeling of a bubble full of acid popping - it stings it is sudden and it comes and goes very quickly in waves.  but it does feel like a small bubble popping ...for awhile i thought it was a pinch nerve in my neck does anyone know what this could be

I have the same issue - it feels like tiny bubbles are ascending my neck into my brain.  I can hear them moving as well.  They usually come in a short burst while I'm sitting on the couch.

I recently was diagnosed with a dissected carotid artery but I doubt its related.  I also spend long hours at the computer and don't sit ergonomically.

you must be one of us who also hear the fizzing sound at the back of our neck just below our skull... there's the thread that you might be interested to read through, although most of their doctors really didn't say anything:

wow so many replied :) thanks all . i check the thread couple of time but didnt see reply and the feel also stopped but it does come back once in while .. i think its probably stress & wrong posture while sitting on computer and sleeping as well.If it happens again i will probably check with the doctor.

thanks again to all who responded :)

You could just have muscle strain, especially if you are spending alot of time on the computer. Watch your posture, keep the chin in not out like most people do when using a computer. You are putting too much strain on the trapezius muscle if leaning forward, pulling on the neck muscle. Go to get a good massage.

Ask for an xray or mri scan of the jaw, sounds like TMJ. Been through everything you are explaining.

It sounds to me like you have TMJ, I thought the same thing until I found out it's only muscle related.

asteriks:  you are the first person I've known that understands!  I've been searching everywhere for some sort of understanding for the bubbles... most doctors just think I'm crazy.  Unfortunately, being crazy doesn't explain much.

leavesforhealing:  If asteriks has the same thing I do... it's more of an effervescent bubbling.  Mine feels like small bubbles, going up the left side of my cervical spine, just about 1 inch from the base of my skull.  I can feel them traveling just a little way... but I can not only hear them, but feel them as well.

I will let you all know if I ever find anything.

Just reading over the comments and I'm not sure when your describing the popping that your talking about vertebre or neck structure.  I hear you saying bubbles and popping. Meaning like air bubbles?
Like fluid in your neck with bubbles?  This would be quite different than what others are saying.  Clarify if you can.

I had that weird popping feeling in my neck as well. Sometimes in the movements and esp when Id touch my spine where Id have pain. My neuro told me that was bone spurs. Im not sure in your case, but Id certainly have it checked out. I just had neck surgery 2 days ago. I had 2 herniated discs and they had produced multiple bone spurs over time. I could actually feel the largest one near C5-6. I would fell like grinding sensation as I would rub my neck. If I turned my head side to side, very painful, but it would make poppy noises.

I dont mean to get you all scared or anything...but i am going through the same thing as emmapop and am planning on going to emergency tonight to check for an anuerysm.

I have neck pain and weird/creepy headaches. It isnt painful at all, but i can just feel something is wrong in there.

Asteriks>>popping feeling it is probably due to muscle spasm, tension & stress.....just apply hot pack it will be relieved! or do some meditation, yoga, or massage.

Emmapop>> those weird feeling you felt are probably caused of over stress or tension. do some Yoga, Meditation or some relaxation massage. it helps ease the pain.

Good luck!
