laminectomy and epidural granulation tissue

by cocomimooo, May 27, 2007 12:00AM
hi i'm caroline
i am 27 years old and i had an L4/L5 laminectomy operation 2 years ago i stayed symptomless for 1.5 years in fact i had so much energy and i didn't experience any pain at all.
untill recently i had back ache that radiated to my leg and a slight numbness wich progressed into very severe pain that it was hard going to the bathroom.

i had an MRI that showed no recurrent disc prolapse but it said "OBLITERATED ANTERIOR EPIDURAL FAT AT L5/S1 LEVEL BY EPIDURAL GRANULATION TISSUE ENCROACHING UPON RIGHT EXIT FORAMEN"

I HAD 3 DEPOMEDROL INJECTIONS DURING 1 MONTH THEN THE PAIN EASED A LITTLE AND I COULD WALK

BUT NOW EVEN IF I WALK FOR 5 MINUTES THERE IS PAIN IN MY BACK AND MY LEG AND ALTHOUGH I'M RELIEVED THAT THERE IS NO DISC BUT I REALLY CAN'T GO ON WITH MY LIFE AS I USED TO

I'D LIKE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS MY ILLNESS AND ITS PROGNOSIS

THANKS A LOT
