morphine sulfate alternative

morphine sulfate alternative

Hi,  this is great website.  I have the multi level disc desease,  both back and neck pain.  I have been on several pain meds, shots, etc.. from the pain guys.  I now take morphine sulfate 30mg time released 2 in 24hr period.
I also have the percocets for break thru.  I was up too 100mg morphine suf, like above.  Over time I started getting dry mouth to the point of driving me mad.  I been on meds for this for years, but the 100mg finally was working good for the pain.  So I slowly cut back with my doctor, hoping the dry mouth would go alway.  Now the pains worse and still have the mouth problem.  What alternatives, would anyone suggest,  has anyone else had this problem with this drug.  I noticed there are other drugs on the charts,,at this level,,,is there any without this side effect that worked for someone else?
They say no pain no gain,,,I don't what no more gain then...

I take the morphine sulfate er 30 mg 3 x a day.
I was on the fentanyl patch 100 mg every 48 hours. It was a much better drug but it is very expensive. If I don't have a spinal cord stimulator
Implanted I will go back to the patch.I hope this helps you.

This isn't in response to ur question, however have u thought about seeing a chiropractor and getting alternative treatment? Decompression therapy is wonderful along with all the other things chiro's do-:)  I wish u well!!         -S-

I used a chiropractor before my first C spine surgery.Since my last
surgery, that was the first thing that I was told by my doctor not to do.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not sure anyone can have adjustments
after 3 cervical fusions.

I have 2 disc bulges in my lumbar spine and a compressed vertebra in my cervical spine. My doctor told me a chiropractor was a bad idea. The manipulation can irritate the area even more. Also it can break down the joints even more. Decompression can help some people. It won't help something so severe as this condition. Both these treatments can be helpful for a condition that's less in severity.
