muscular back/neck pain with arm numbness

I'm a senior in college right now and have been battling this problem since my senior year of highschool. At this point, I'm deperate...does anyone have any answers for me?

I have very intense upper back pain that then spread to my neck and now shoulders and upper arms, and is accompanied by occassional arm numbeness. I've come to the conclusion that my pain is muscular because it's a burning pain, similar to what you would feel when you are working out and your muscles are fatigued. I feel as though my back can't support the weight of my arms (Which aren't big, I'm only 5'2" and weigh 93 lbs). When I try to sleep, it usually takes me hours because I can't get comfortable and when I lay on my side, it feels like my shoulders  and are collapsing under me; When I lay on my back, my back and neck hurts.

I've been working out for several months now, targeting my back, neck, and pectortial muscles. I've also had X-rays done, an MRI, been to a physical therapist and a chiropractor and no one can really find a cause for my pain, since my back seems to be in good alignment and nothing showed up on the X-rays or MRI. I get migrains almost daily now because the pain gets so intense. I've never had any injury to my back/neck, but there has to be something wrong here. My fear is like muscular dystrophy or something, but no doctors have done any sort of blood test or anything to find out. Could this be possible or am I just jumping to conclusions out of desperation? Please help! This is completely consuming my life!

Since your MRI's clear, have you given any thought to  Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Trigger points can cause all the various pains you're having, and a lot of Physical Therapist are not that familiar with them or their treatment. You're symptoms don't fit muscular dystrophy and I think its genetic anyway.

Eh aggieinpain I have been in severe chronic pain for 1 year and 3 months.  I had Posterior spinal fusion surgery lasted for 6 an a half hours.  I was really really in pain.  I am only really in severe pain now.  I get Percacet an I want and need something much stonger.  I stay busy by walking an I get some short term relief from walking.  It hurts badly though before and after.  I will be going to Doctor near the end of this Month.   7 month check up.  Eh the pain has to go.  I will pray and hope the best for you too.
