need some advice for spondylothesis

Hello.. If anyone has had experience with spondylothesis I could use some advice. I have had pain when walking/standing/ just being on my feet for more than 10 min for over a year. It took quite a while to figure out the problem but I have tried different types of nerve medicine, pain pills, and recently had my 2nd cortisone shot.. The first ones (one for right side, one for left side) didn't help so dr said okay we'll try one more. That was a week ago and still NO improvement. My doctor didn't seem to think the 2nd one would help much. He told me when I left in my situation its temporary at best. My question is what does help?? I'm hoping to avoid surgery my back does hurt but not all the time and it is bearable, but the pain when I walk/stand is not bearable and greatly effects my quality of life. I have to sit at least every 15 min for 5 or so minutes. In a week I will call the Dr. Back and tell him my second round of shots didn't help (unless a miracle occurs) I am told I will then set an appt to discuss surgery.. What questions should I ask regarding surgery and if there are ANY other options.

Have you been to a orthopedic Dr? I had surgery to fix my problem. I know this isn't the answer for everyone but for me it worked and I can walk again.

I have the same problem and am very discourged.  I have been going to a Chiropractor which helps temporarily, massage therapist and still only get temporary relief.  I really don't know what else to do.
