The rate of nerve recovery is anticipated to be 1mm per day, so in large nerves such as the sciatic nerve, recovery can continue slowly and take up to a year for results.  The rate of nerve recovery is also dependent on the length of time the nerve was compressed before surgery was done.
There may be residual numbness/pain that is permanent, but given time, you should see improvement.  As the severity has decreased since the operation, continued recovery could be anticipated.
You might also need physical therapy to strengthen adjacent muscle groups which can also contribute to your symptoms
I had an anterior cervical fusion done 6 months ago and have some residual numbness in the little finger of my left hand.  It is noticeable (at times), but considering how much pain and numbness I had prior to surgery, my results have been excellent.
I hope you will continue to see improvement as well.
Best wishes ----

Thanks for that kittyluv1.  I do know what your saying and it does help me feel better knowing that someone understands, a guess am just impatient and would like to wear my shoes and new boots again instead of trainers all the time, but they are the most comfortable.  Take care...
