pain after fusion, Will it ever get better?

Can anyone tell me what  have to look forward to? I have been fused at : c2-3 c3-4 c4-5 c5-6 c7-t1 my last visit being 18 months ago.  I have 2 plates 14 screws and 5 cages in my neck.  My pain is bad  and getting worse. Is this going to be my life or will it improve a little?    the medication's only help for awhile and are almost not worth it ( I think).
the only way I can sleep is to take Morphine and Neurontin 2 hours before bed.

         I'm frustrated ..  fusion should be a very very last resort.   don't plan on feeling like you use to.

       Does anything help?
