protruding neck bone?

I just noticed back around January that my neck bone at top of spine is protruding out more than ever before. I have also been getting migraines my entire life but more so this year. I gained a lot of weight over the last year, but this neck bone is starting to really make me question. I'm not sure why it's sticking out so much, but I feel like my neck is giving me migraines most of the time. My neck also feels tense and stiff quite a bit. I see a chiropractor weekly, but I don't see it getting better and straightening out. Does anyone know why this could be happening and if I should get an mri or ct scan done?  I also get migraines mostly after doing any type of strenuous activity with back neck and head pain. Please help.
