Hey, I'm 13 to and I just found out about my scoliosis today. I have a 26 degree curve and I'm worried to. I actually am doing cheer as well so I know exactly how you feel. Honestly, If you need surgery get it otherwise don't worry about it. Kids are going to be cruel no matter what, so don't sweat it. Act as if it doesn't bother you because the less satisfaction you give them the quicker they will cut it out.

Hope I was helpedd and good luckk with everything,

Hey Lauren. I'm that guy you commented on with the 45 degree scoliosis curve.... As you said, 19 degrees isn't that bad yet, however, as time goes on this could possibly worsen. I am 30 years old now and I wish I had gotten the surgery when I was younger because once it reaches a certain curve it becomes more and more difficult for surgeons to correct it. (My spine curves one more degree every year....) You may not even NEED the surgery so don't stress out just yet. Follow your doctors orders and I'm sure you will be alright!

As for being called the "scoliosis girl" I wouldn't worry about it too much. Kid's will always find some reason to give you or anyone else a hard time regardless of what's wrong with you. Just so you know, I was a huge nerd that everyone made fun of growing up, but it's one of those things you will barely remember and I couldn't care less about now :-) Your health is more important than other peoples negative comments.

Hope that helps.....
