Could just be muscular, but for me it was a herniated disc in my neck. Best to get an MRI if it doesn't improve with ibuprofen and ice or if it shoots down your arm. Good luck!

I had similar pain a few years ago and my doctor did a medial branch nerve block and the pain and weakness went away... never returned... I would check into that if I were you.... good luck
