sore spot on my upper spine

For years Ive had this sore spot on my spine on my upper back near my neck. It is only on the  right side of my body. Its bugs me everyday and sometimes it gets really tense, (especially when I drive for a long time) i have to hold pressure on that specific spot and crack my neck to realive tension. I've had my boyfriend massage it out for me and it works for maybe a day or two but it never goes away. What is it and what can i do? please help

I would have it checked, sounds like it could be a bulging disc or something similar... good luck, hope you feel better soon.
