I have been in phyiscal therapy for 2 months now with my legs trembleing off and on with various low back pain . they use the robotic arm to loosen my tight muscles like the psoas and hipHip joint replacement Hip pain muscles which has been helping. But my question what is the trembling from and why is it taking so long for this to go. I had a mri which which a tint protusion at the l4 and 15. the chiro said it shouldnt be causing this. plus very minor amount of arthritis. have you ever heard of this? Im very frustrated and concerned.
Well trembling legs with back pain really is not that uncommon, dont know why no one didnt answer you till now.
I had this and I had to stand at work on concrete - misery!
Many possible reasons. When your back is 'toast' the other muscles are overworked and / or weakened in the process. And it could me from pinched nerves. All of this takes time to heal. Some times way longer than you'd expect.
Remember, all physical therapy clinics are different. And everybodys back is different. Dont get hung up at one place. All chiros are different also.
It takes time and $ (hope you have ins). If after 3 months and its not better, try something else!
Thank you for your response, it was very helpful. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one going through this. Its getting better ..slowly like you said....but I'm hopeful and keeping my options open. I'll be trying deep tissue massage next week we'll see how that helps. Thanks again,
You will know when something works because even after the treatment you will continue to heal as I still am. It awesome to heal after tying so many different things!
To prevent this from happening again, I do lumbar extentions twice a week at the gym, can do this on an a big exersise ball to, but it not as good as the 45 degree angled lumbar extention. You can buy these for under $300 for home also. Once the pain was gone my muscles started getting stonger from lumbar extenion exercises. There is a right way and wrong way to do them. I watch 90% of the people in the gym do it wrong - this can aggravate your back. A good physical therapist (hard to find) showed me how. I even see the 'meat heads' at the gym doing this exercise wrong!
Once this pain goes away it can come back if you dont do this simple back exercise a few times a week - this is so important and easy. Really strong but balanced back muscles are the most important muscle group there is, and will take body weight off your beat up spine, keep it aligned and those damaged nerves will slowly (several months) heal. Right now your glutes and hamstrings are overworked as they are helping your back muscles keep you up. They cant do that forever, I'm sure they are tight also.
Did you have what i call muscle vibration? It feels like a cell phone going off on vibrate. Also did your upper back tighten up as your lower back adjusts? This has been a verying trying time as you know. Its been 4 months since it started but its better but still not what it was.
Is there a website that shows how you do the lumbar extensions? Thanks for taking the time to tell me of what you've done. Noone else has heard of what i'm talking about. thanks again.
I had nerve tingling and hot streaks to some extent going down the back of my legs. The muscles when weak can have that vibration feel, its kind of scary. My whole ordeal from the first doctor appt (what a joke that was) to my last physical therapy appt (worked great) was almost four years. I researched it a lot in between since I was tired of stupid doctors that knew less than I did. Since I have one leg that is 1/2 shorter that added some confusion to the mix.
You really need to call some physical therapy places and get an appt , like I said before. Dont take short cuts with your back. This is not something you can fix all on your own.
You can learn how to release muscle tension by trigger point release, possible by yourself. Book stores have workbooks on this. About $20, go get one. It will be a new concept to you, but the technic was developed in the 1950's by , get this, a doctor. It was forgotten about but the practice has re-emerged gaining popularity. Olympic trainers use it. I was a semi pro athlete 10 years ago, I know muscles, and this technic works to minimize muscle tension better than drugs and chiropractic. Weather you can figure it out on you own depends how hard you try. Maybe you can U-Tube it for some examples!
I'm beginning to think your heath care in Florida *****. It should be better with all the retired folks down there one would think?

You really cant strengthen the muscles (important) until most of the tightness is gone, otherwise its counter productive. Strengthening the back with lumbar extensions can have amassing outcomes. Med -X is the best machine for this, only from a phy therapists clinic. Most other machines suck by design as they don't isolate the back muscles. My back is now way better without any surgery ever.

I was on a mission to cure myself, regular doctors and othopedists did not help at all, they just pushed drugs.
The trigger point release helped the chiro adjustments stay in place and allowed me to strengthen my back on the Med-X lumbar therapy machine. This was a great combination that I figured out on my own. Funny thing is none of these specialist work together! When using their sevices alone the results are not as impressive.
