what causes such sharp severe pain in my right shoulder & arm area, I think its a pinched nerve

My right arm and  right side of my back area up high starting hurting me,  typical symptoms of what I am reading of a pinched nerve. The pain was mild to medium at first then I was tired of laying around and decided to get my mind off the pain and painted a room in my home. The next day I had really sharp burning pains in my arm and a little in my back, arm is much worse. Could this be from the extra activity because the pain is unbelieveable. I had my husband massge my back and it seemed to worsen was this the wrong thing to do? Most of my pain is in the upper right arm and shoots down to my forearm and hand. My muscle in my upper back and arm have also been twitching. What could be wrong.
Any input would be helpful!

Thanks for the input, actually the upper R back is getting better with Hot Packs and Ice and Ibuprofen, the pain in my R arm is still there but has lightened up a bit, I can at least get up and dressed without feeling like crying. I went out yesterday the first time in 10 days. Today I feel a little more pain then yesterday but, it is still better. It is not enough to make me cry anymore, just annoying. The pain is now mostly in the R upper arm between the elbow and shoulder side of bicep and goes down to the forearm and shooting pains in my hand. Does this sound like nerve to you or not? I would appreciate your input,
Thank you again!!

hi,here
Please check you neck and shoulder ,whether muscle is very tense or not.or find a sensitive point.if so,deep tissue massage can help,if pain constant and neck have limited rotation, you should go to see dco.
Good luck!
