Can I get microdermabrasion if I am using skin care products or retinol products?

Can I get microdermabrasion if I am using skin care products or retinol products?

Can someone please tell me about microderm, what the procedure entails and whether I can go for it while still using my skin care products? I am following a daily regimen of Eyevive and June Jacobs moisturizer, as well as an SPF 25 with tremendous success. I am apprehensive about trying the microderm if it means I have to temporarily stop using my products. I have had an immense improvement on my overall appearance because of them and it's motivated me to try microderm. Thanks you very much!

A microderm procedure is a way to exfoliate. It takes all the dead skin cells off your skin. Your skin will look brighter and healthier. It does not hurt at all to get it done...it kind of feels like a cat tongue licking you. It is a maintenance thing....so you need to do it regularly to keep the results. I think you could start doing this in your early 20's. I don't see going for it while using Eyevive and a sunscreen would be any problem whatosever. It could only improve the benefits of doing those things. I love it.

Microdermabrasion is used to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. The procedure is not very painful and requires no anaesthetic. Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars.

Microdermabrasion works by cleansing skin pores and byeliminating the dead skin cells. It can be used simultaneously to you taking skin care products as well as retinol based one's.

I would never ever do a dermabrasion if you are using a retin A product.  Those retinol products are used to exfoliate your skin.  Dermabrasion is something that would be used as an alternative. If you are using prescription products you should talk w/ your dr.  Also, you will want to avoid direct or prolonged sun exposure.  It may depend on how strong your product is but if you were my client and told me you were using retinol products I would not be doing a dermabrasion.
