HELP FOR REALLY DRY HAIR

by Ariom63, Jun 21, 2009 06:48AM
Hi!  here is dilemma with my hair.  lately I have noticed some changes in the texture of my hair.  I always used Fructese or however you spell it and it has always left my hair so soft and managable.  But for past couple of weeks it is so darn dry even after conditioning it I don't know what to do.  Could it be from the chlorine in the pool?  Should I try a hot oil treatment, or is it time to change shampoo's and conditioners. if so what are some really good ones for really dry course hair?  I have long black curly hair and it frizzes all the time. I have had it....even after conditioning it when I go to brush it there are so many knot I end up pulling out so much hair!!!  Anyone have any ideas???  Thanks!

Chlorine will build up on the hair and yes it will dry it out. First make sure there is no buildup. Then if you are in the sun alot put olive oil in your hair, conditions it while in the sun. Cholesterol, which can be found at any store will do the same thing. Use a very mild shampoo and follow it with an intensive restructuring treatment such as can be found at any sallys or local beauty outlet open to the public. Avoid blow dryers and hot irons for awhile. Hope this helps Redkin makes some great products for damaged hair.

Yes, the chlorine from the pool makes your hair dried out and totally non-manageable. I would try to use a different shampoo and conditioner during the summer. Something that works for dry and frizzy hair. They have a lot of different shampoos and conditioners designed for that stuff. You just have to read the bottle at the store before you buy it and see what works best for you. Good luck!

try loreals (sp?) childrens swim shampoo. i've been a swimmer (competitive from 4th grade till i graduated high school and swim coach from then until last year when i got pregnant) since i was 10. i had HORRIBLE times figuring out what to do with my hair until i found the kids swim shampoo. it does work. use that when you shower after you get out of the pool and when you shower at night or in the mornings use your regular shampoo.  since i started using that when i was a junior in high school i have had ZERO issues with my hair.

Why don't you try putting on some coconut oil in your hair. Use it like an alternative Hot oul treatment.
