Hair Loss

by amc742s, Feb 24, 2008 09:29PM
I'm a 21 year old female and recently have noticed that I have a little hair loss on my scalp.  I've got to the point where I don't even like wearing my hair down anymore because the part in the back is so open and looks like a bald spot.  In that area it is also tender a bit to the touch.  Any one have any idea of what this could be?

Hi, I have a thought about your problem, you say you wear your hair up? Maybe where you pull your hair up and use a clip ( or whatever ), that would be the spot? That may also be the reason you have a tender area as well? Just a thought. Hope this helps.

I  used to color my hair a lot and of course you know that is damaging, i also work at a natural health food store and we sell supplement and i have been recently trying to grow my hair out and the people in supplements suggested a product called Biotin, it is a b- complex that you would only take once a day and it is fairly cheap, and what it does helps with your skin, hair and nails, with hair it helps thicken and grow the hair so maybe this will help you. it does take some time to work but just keep taking it and it should help, i know a lot of older women take it too. and if your on birth control or anything of the sort i talked with a pharmacist and they said it wont affect anything... I hope it helps :)

if you do get it get one that is 5000mcg i know you can get a bottle of 120 for around $6 or $7 at wal-mart.

You should have your thyroid checked!!!! Right now!  I have hashimotos thyroid disease and then my hair is falling out the most is when my thyroid is producing the least amount of the hormone. There are lots of other symptoms as well. I will be glad to talk to you about this if you need more thyroid information!
