Microdermabraision

by chelan2, Jan 07, 2007 12:00AM
Has anyone tried microdermabraision?  I'm considering trying it.  I have large pores that drive me crazy and was wondering if this treatment would help?  How many treatments are typical or is it once you start it you should keep it up?

I have done the Mary Kay microdermaabrasion and I love it.  It is not recomended to do it more than 2 times a week and you get results right away.

I had it done professionally years ago. Worst thing I ever did to my skin! I had several treatments, and it fried my skin. I will never do it or anything like it again. I had 2 chemical peels last year, and LOVED them, expensive, but worth it!

Tks for the info. Are chemical peels painful?

by Hityty, Jan 17, 2007 12:00AM
They weren't at all painful for me. The esthetician kept asking me to rate "pain" from 1-10, at its worst it was a 3, a little stinging sensation, almost like icy kind of burn, no big deal at all! BUT... I "heard" that light skin blondes (for some reason) can take the peels better then darker skinned people, I really have no idea why, but I figured that's why I was fine. She did tell me that others say it's "somewhat painful" rating it around 6-7, but still.... it only lasts a few minutes! I also suggest not searching for a bargain, go to a reputable office with a certified technician with experience. It's worth the extra $, even if it means waiting longer to save up.

Make sure if you get it they use the crystals...I go to an M.D.'s office to an Aestetician. I LOVE IT and can REALLY tell a difference...every 8 weeks for treatment. I've been to a facility where they use a gentle treatment and it was basically a face wash...saw no results. Ask b/f making an appt. if they use the true crystals b/c that's what really cleans out your pores and helps minimize them. Hope it helps.
