Well, it depends if you are a boy or girl. I have the same problem with my thumb nails. Well, I got tired of looking at them and I hated writing something in front of someone so I got fake nails put on to cover it up. It worked. I had them on for about 2 months. I figured out I was doing it myself. When I get nervous I mess with the skin aroung my nails on my thumbs, and it was causing me to damage my nail beds. I stopped doing it with the nails on though and it fixed my thumbs. If not that, you could have a fungus. They do have nail stuff at target that you apply regularly to strengthen your nails.
I feel as though I'm the only one on the planet with this problem because after two days no one has even attempted to give me a diagnosis or even take a stab at a guess as to why my fingernails curl after they grow to about a quarter inch .
