Tattooing over scars

Tattooing over scars

I have thousand of scars on my body, but I also have thousands of scars on my arms, they were all self inflicted and very deep.  I am looking to find out if they can be covered with tattoos!  I can send anyone pictures of the scars if that would help answer the question ?
Please help me my life feels so ruined with these scars.
Thanks xoxo

I don't think its the right thing to do. Why don't you try going to a dermatologist and ask for help.

First of all, I hope you have been able to work through the issues that lead to you doing self-harm.  That seems like the first step, before deciding how to live with the scars.   As for covering scars with tattoos, your best bet is to talk with a tattoo artist and show them your scars and get some ideas.  However, as someone with several tattoos myself, I can tell you should never get a tattoo only to cover something up (unless it is another tattoo of course).  You will only end up regretting the choice later on.  Unless having a tattoo is something you have wanted and you feel would empower you, my advice is to seek an alternative solution.

My tattoos were the end result of many years of wishing and dreaming, and I am so happy with them.  Every time I see them I feel beautiful and empowered.  Ask yourself: will you only see a cover-up for deeper scars?

You say there is still swelling and redness from the scarring.  If so, no tattoo artist will touch you, or at least not a reputable one.  They would expect to be working on healed skin.

Sadmomma, it seems like you want quick results - tattoos may provide quick results, but probably won't solve your problem.  Wait and consult with your doctor when you have healed, and see what your options are.  You may be able to get rid of the scars altogether.

A Dematologist and laser treatment may work  better than tattoos.

Actually I love tatoos I only have 2 but I have been wanting more for a while.  My first new one is going on the back of my neck.  The tatoos I want to cover my scars would be floral and butterflies and dragon flies etc like a beautiful garden growing up my arms.  I am trying to find an online tattooist that I could email a picture of my scars to and get some answers on what I need to do to get ready:). I too smile when I look at my tattooes
