(just a forward my mother is a hairdresser at a very "upscale" salon, so I have been messing around with hair products/issues my whole life)
It is a really good idea to start using a leave-in conditioner (avoid your hair roots to avoid greasyness)

If you have longer than shoulder length hair I would also recommend using professional shampoo and conditioner (none of that drug store crap)

If you straighten daily use a hair treatment once a week, here is an amazing one I can give you, helps makes it soft and shiny.
1 avacado+1/2 cup of honey+ 1/2 cup mayonnaise (the real stuff, no miracle whip)

mix it all together, it will smell pretty gross. (suck it up) put it all over your head, and fully saturate you hair with it. wrap your head in plastic wrap, etc...the goal being that the mixture uses your body heat to heat it up, and leave it on for 1/2 an hour to a full hour, depending on the time you feel like spending on it.

at the bare minimum use a nice, protective styling product.

(in no particular order) a list of good products for this:
-Kenra Daily Provision Leave-In Conditioner
-CHI Silk Infusion
-CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray
-Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing System Iron Smoother
-Anything by Pureology
-Anything by Redken

Unfortunately in hair care many things are "you get what you pay for" quality, and your hair will reflect that.

I have tried SO many professional products, and many unprofessional ones (borrowed at a friends house etc...) and there is such a big difference. Look for a brand that fits your price range, and then experiment within the different options they offer.

Matrix isn't bad, and is one of the cheaper professional products.

Redken is about mid-range in price.

Pureology is completely vegan, and happens to be my favorite (works wonders on my thick curly/frizzy hair) but is also (what I would condsider) expensive, as it can run you anywhere from $25-35 a bottle, but is worth it. Their shampoo for people who straighten their hair is like a liquid miracle!

you can apply it to dry hair, or slightly damp hair, I feel like it works best if you just spray a bit of water on dry hair to dampen it slightly.

To get it out just wash it out with shampoo (you may want to do this twice) and follow with your conditioner. You may want to leave your conditioner on a bit longer than usual because it will only enhance the effects!

Good Luck! It's a cheap/effective way of helping de-stress hair, and bring it back to it's natural health!
