best drugstore haircare/color

Hi-Just wondering what your suggestions are for best haircare and haircolor products from the drugstore?  I'm going from the ranks of working mom to stay at home mom and will not be able to afford my currenty pricey haircare regime!  I currently use Matrix products and get my color touched up every six weeks.  I have very fine hair.

Try going on Ebay and getting professional products (that are typically only sold to professionals) to use at home.  Get familiar with color charts.  Redken Shades EQ is a great way to get started - it's demi-permanent (really easy on your hair) and everyone always says they get great color results (including me!).  Make sure you pick a base that is flattering to your complexion.  If you are blue eyed/ruddy/pale/freckled (cool complexion) - if your hair is prone to turning orange/red - go with a blue/violet and brown base.  Otherwise go with a brown/red base (warm complexion).  Stay away from strong green bases - they usually do not turn out flattering on anyone.  Don't try to go lighter by yourself either.  If you want to start doing your own hair at home, find something close to your natural color - more like a gloss - think "enhancement" not drastic change.  Good luck!
