Yes But Is'nt the dose of 25 mg very subclinical?.All AP"s have scary side effects like TD,Diabetes,Akithisia which can occur even with low doses and even short duration of treatment so all I was saying was it should be used for the purpose it was made for.I am scared to get any of the these side effects and that is the reason why I am so eager to get off Risperdal at the earliest which is now 2 days away..I have posted a question in the expert forum to view their response on taking low dose Seroquel as a sleeping aid.Let us see their response.
am not taking it as a sleeping aid but it helps sleeping
Adel dont you think it is wrong to take any anti psychotic as a sleeping aid.I am having lots of sleep problems while tapering from Risperdal but I am not even thinking about taking help of any anti psychotic to sleep. Even my Pdoc says it is wrong to do so as an Anti psychotic should only be used for the purpose it was made for.Incidentally my last dose of Risperdal is on 22nd night.
a small dose of seroquel helps in this matter
I have taken Zyprexa before and I do not suggest that you use this medicine as a sleeping agent. After I stopped taking it I could not sleep either, but I went to my psychiatrist and they put me on a regimen that allowed me to sleep again.
I realize what you are saying. I am bi-polar and used to be on Zyprexa. When I was on it I had no trouble sleeping. But now I do not sleep well at all. A psychiatrist friend of mine suggested the possibility of taking 1 mg of Zyprexa. However, he cautioned that I should talk to my regular psychiatrist about this. This is why I just wanted to get feedback if anyone has tried this before.
Zyprexa is a strong anti psychotic which should only be used as one.It should not to be used as a sleeping aid and should only be used under supervision of a Psychiatrist. For sleeping one could use something like Trazodone,Ambien or Rozerem.
