A society of Bi-Polars

If Bi-Polar in children has increased from 20,000 to 800,000 from 1994 to 2003 where does that leave us as a whole?  These children will be or now are adults.  What does that tell us?  Please refer to www.jonbarron.org before you start giving me all this feed back.  I am Bi-Polar and have an ADHD child which I was told could also be Bi-Polar.  Sorry folks,  I am not going to medicate my child anymore or myself.  If these numbers continue to rise; which they have - the study was dated 1994 to 2003 - who will be left that is not doped up?  I have sat back and read and watched what alot of people have had to say about this topic.  Till now.  Look in the phone book everywhere and anywhere notice how many shrinks are in there now.  Think they are doping themselves up?  I have put out alot of money in the past without questioning the whole situation, I'm not talking about 5, 6 or 7 years either.  Maybe we ought to start questioning those who are so quick to write out a script or give you those "free" samples.  Do you really think they just dig into their own pockets and hand out these "freebies"??  Could the drug compnies have anything to do with it?  No, surely not.  Right?  Food for thought.

Have you read any of the work by Dr. Peter Breggin? He is outspoken about the over usage of drugs that are being prescribed to thousands of children. He has an impressive academic resume with many publications, presentations, etc. in the field of psychiatry.

Additionally, look at the works of Dr. Loren Mosher, another leading psychiatrist and highly credentialed, who also has spoken out about psychiatry and its ties to the pharmaceutical industry. His letter of resignation from the American Psychiatric Association cites many of the facts that you reference in your post.

It certainly is food for thought - unfortunately, a rather distasteful one at that...

My heart goes out to the thousands of parents who are at a loss on how to help their children and climb on board the merry-go-round of pharmaceutical drugs that are supposed to help their children.
