Adderall lower manic episodes?

by Chenzo57, Aug 21, 2009 12:24AM
Is it possible that Adderall (adderrall) would have the reverse effect on someone that is bi-polar? Ex: 50 yr old woman is very manic(racing thoughts, always moving around, agitated, cannot concentrate) and the doctor prescribes adderall (adderrall) as medication because she is bi-polar, and it actually slows her down(calms mania)? If she has ADHD and bi-polar disorder, would adderall (adderrall) calm her down?

Sounds unlikely unless it is specifically treating ADHD. You could speak to your psychiatrist about it though and we have some websites linked up for more information as well.
