An addition to votive tremors

I should have mentioned that I have had them for a month. Nurontin gave me face and neck tremors for 5 months but the klonipin took them away. It is not touching my voice though. Already saw an ENT. Will see Neuroligist next week. This is strange and so bad. Has this ever happened to anyone (voice tremors)?

My son informed me that I sound like I'm getting ready to cry all of the time. So it's just hard to explain. I feel like it sounds different, like I stated before.

I have already been told by 2 dr's that it is not TD. I never did take anti Pcsychotics for longer than a week. I tried a few. I can't take them.

The dr calls it voice tremors. What happens is that your voice actually changes. It's deep, doesn't sound like my own voice. Frankly I hate to use this word but I sound retarded. Often people ask me to repeat what I said because they can't understand me. It's horrible having this happen to you and I wonder if it will ever go away. Talking that way gets physically tiring.

Neurontin as a rare adverse side effect can cause the permanent movement disorder tardive dyskinesia. When this occurs it can present itself not only as a physical movement disorder but as an impairment of the speech process. For example I have tardive dystonia (a variant of tardive dyskinesia) and as part of I have dysphagia which affects my ability to speak and also tic like spasms similar to Tourette's.
However all of this is very uncommon, it may go away over time and there could be other causes. The neurologist should be able to provide
an appropriate diagnosis and follow up within their clinical discretion.
It would be helpful to tell them that this condition started when you began
the Neurontin and if they read through the full literature on Neurontin
(the physician's only section) it does list this concern as an adverse reaction. Please note an adverse reaction could have occurred
in only a few people and can be statistical in occurrence.
For more information Google "Patient Education Tardive Dyskinesia"
(note as the site itself says "some of these medications may
be medically necessary"). There is also a clinically detailed webpage
on Emedicine about tardive dyskinesia that would be helpful to show
to the neurologist.
