Anyone exprienced this with meds?

Hello has anybody had frequent urination because of taking SSRI's? It seems that every SSRI I've tried makes me go
to the bathroom a lot. I was wondering what you all think? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't have a UTI because I was tested for it. If I don't take my Lexapro I go crazy so I feel like I need it in my system.

Thanks for your advice. I don't even know if my going all the time is related to my medicine. I just thought it might be. I don't think it's normal to urinate 20 plus times a day. What do you think?

Namaste,

SSRI's do not have a side effect which would cause excessive urination.

As RubyShooz recommended, have your GP give you a complete physical to eliminate any physical problems which may be causing this condition.

If no physical symptoms are not found, talk with your psychiatrist  about possibly changing your SSRI, although I'm not sure that would make a difference.

I take 30 mg. of Remeron, 400 mg, of Lamictal and 10 mg. of diazepam 4 times a day without any problems.

Remeron is not an SSRI, it is a tetracyclic antidepressant. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression. It is thought to increase the activity of norepinephrine and serotonin which help elevate mood.

Remeron is used to treat major depressive disorder.

Since it is not an SSRI, you may want to suggesst this to your psychiatrist.

I take 20 mg of Lexapro only so I'm wondering what my problem is. I'm definately going to ask my doctor next month about it. Thanks for your advice.

I have not noticed that symptom with any of the numerous meds I've been on over the years.  Currently on lamictal 200mg and lexapro 20mg and no excess urination problems.  If something else is causing your problem, I know the doc can prescribe medicines that will limit your need to urinate so often.  But your doc should check every other possible cause to be sure there is not another medical condition. -- not to scare you but you should have your bladder and kidneys checked for a beign cyst or something like that -- my mom even needed a "sling" inserted because poor muscles around the bladder caused it to fall out of place and it needed extra support.
Best of luck to you!
