BP and Pain.

by Linda2962, Jan 03, 2009 01:19AM
Hi.  This is my first time posting here.  I have BiPolar.  I was diagnosed about 2-3 years ago.  I was doing good until this last Monday, the 29th.  I went on a manic state.  I was in contact with my psychiatrist that day.  I was still slightly manic the next day, the 30th.  I made an appointment to see my psychiatrist for the next day.  She took me off of Cymbalta, which I've been taking for 2-3 years.  I've also been taking Lamictal, for about 2-3 months now.  She upped the dose on that from 150 mg to 200 mg.  While I feel better on the manic side, more stable, I have lower back pain and hip pain.  Both are on the right side.  I'm in pain and hate it.  It's worse in the evenings, after I've had a chance to relax and settle down for the evening.  Has anyone else had this problem, pain after changes in their meds?

Yeps, when going off Cymbalta it takes a while to get the drugs out of your system. Your body is going to ache. They don't list the withdrawal effects of this drug with is long. Did she take you off Cymbalta cold turkey?  I hope not. I felt like I had the flu for about a week, and I tapered off over at least 6 weeks. Some meds do mask chronic pain, supposedly Cymbalta is supposed to help with that, though it didnt with me at all, and I have arthritis and chronic pain.  I found though once my Lamactil was upped to 200mgs and had Lithium, my chronic pain eased it. I still have days where it's blinding pain, but not ever single day.

I would suggest getting a check up just to make sure all is okay. I do have to say the brain can be the cause of pain especially with depression, as well when the meds aren't their like they used to be the brain over reacts.I'd get a check up anyways to keep your GP in the loop.
