Bipolar?

I've been to the docs today an finally been honest an told her exactly what's been happening to me on her opinion it's a classic case of bp . But can't treat me until I'm diagnosed she as referred me to a pychiatrist how long could it take to b diagnosed? I don't think I can handle any more manic episodes

Not necessarily!  Have your doctor check your blood levels including thyroid function.  I think they are on track to check all avenues.  Bipolar is usually diagnosed via testing and symptoms.  Therefore, blood is not usually taken as there is no medical test for bp.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked if not get these test done T3 T4 TSH and do not let them tell you it can't be your thyroid if you do a lil research on thyroid you will find dementia Bipolar schiz is thyroid related ,Dry skin and hair mood swings ,bloating of the intestines leg swelling and ankle fingers too as well as pinch nerves in the neck can cause mood swings depression C1-6 can all play hell with your emotions and sleep so a EMG if you have any numbness in shoulders hands  ,restless leg or all over body  and pain and any weird feeling in your head along with stiffness and feelings of despair and chiropractor can and will help with a pinch nerve . also if you have weird joint pain localized in wrist ankles and elbow joints is a sign of a pinch nerve ,Doctors want you on pills cause they get a kick back of up to 500.00 for each prescription and they do not care how you feel or what you feel they want the kick back no matter what and will risk your health as they will not tell you h:"hey this pill caused these side effects and made this happen ,no they will say o u need to take this " be careful doctors now have to cut back cause medicare wont pay for some procedures sooo doctors gotta make up for the loss some way and that way is YOU

Thanks it just helps knowing that other people actually feel like I do. I am currently on medication for depression but it is definitely more than that

In my experience, which isn't a whole lot, the psychiatrist was able to put me on meds. and diagnose me the first time I saw him. I still have to go back once a month... but it is only because I haven't found the right dose/combination of meds. yet. (I am sensitive to side-effects.) Keep an open mind and be honest with your docs. Good luck... I hope this helped.
